Must-see TV?

Filed under: media, telecom — jjm @

Qualcomm MediaFLO announces it has, in collaboration with CBS Mobile, launched “VICTORIA’S SECRET TV…a new, dedicated, 24/7 channel on the FLO TV(TM) service that gives viewers an all-access pass to the 2008 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on their mobile phones.” Viewers will get backstage coverage leading up to the Fashion Show itself, which will air on December 3rd at 10 p.m. EST/PST. MediaFLO is supported by AT&T and Verizon Wireless.

Must-see TV for the lad market, perhaps.

MediaFLO’s picture quality is, by all accounts, awesome. A shortage of content and compatible cellphones has hampered uptake. Live event coverage, such as the 2006 World Cup in Italy and the 2008 Beijing Olympics, has been a driver for adoption of broadcast mobile TV services on mobile phones; this seems to follow a similar, more babe-centric logic.
